For huggers of the Tree of Wisdom
I've just finished a 3 and a half-day course run by the Institute of Self Actualisation. The course was at the Hotel Campanile in Bradford and I'll guess you've never experienced anything like it. Not that such courses don't exist - they do, but the number of people that attend them is not that high. This course was very challenging. On a number of levels. It was called The Graduate Intensive Experience; and it was. Intense that is. It's the "follow-up" course to the ISA Experience which is a 3-day course and which explains some rules, pinciples and understandings about how we live, create and experience our lives. All of us from kings to cleaners. Now let me be clear: if you have studied and been interested in self-development for a while the chances are good that you have come across some of the information and ideas being talked about before. After all, there is nothing new under the sun; but life isn't just about information is it? Otherwise the person with the most information wins. This is demonstrably not true. Some of the most knowledgeable people in the world have the least successful lives. Successful in their own terms I might add : emotionally, financially, spiritually, health-wise, happiness-wise.No, information on its own is not enough. We as humans, need actual experience to make the information "real". It is experience of the truth which makes us act in a particular way. How many would-be slimmers know what to do but don't do it? Smokers? Or people who repeatedly choose the wrong person for a relationship? It's not information they're lacking is it? It's an understanding of one's own nature and experiences which influences us to act in new and better ways. These are what the ISA experience and the Graduate Intensive Training offer. They provide experiences, enjoyable and insightful ones, which show in sharp relief what's happening in your mind and emotions that you weren't even aware of. These thoughts and emotions are powerfully directing your life. Now that's OK if you're living the life you've always wanted in all areas but I would venture that most people aren't. Not at all. Maybe some areas of your life are working but not all areas: for example perhaps your job is going well but you're not earning enough; or your relationship is good but your health is doubtful. Ideally we all want to a great life in all departments. And why not?
Well I'll tell you why not. Our lives are not always in our conscious control. Sometimes unconscious forces, events and feelings push us in a direction we may not want to go. I for one want to be 21lbs lighter. I've wanted this for many years. So why haven't I achieved it if that's what I want? Well I would have if the result was in my conscious control; but it's not. There are influences I'm not conscious of which push me away from my desired result. And, if I'm not even conscious of what's stopping me, how can I effectively achieve what I say I want? This is where the ISA Experience and G.I.T. is so helpful. It gave me information and insights which raised awareness of what's really happening in my life. And in so doing ISA allows you, me, us to act with more power, decision and clarity.
It's quite common for people who have undergone the 2 courses to make positive changes in their life as it becomes clearer to them how life could be; what's available to them and what ways they have been holding themselves back unknowingly. It's great how the ISA can affect all areas of a person's life. In fact one of the great things about self-development courses and processes is that you can be addressing one area of your life and later on realise that you've inproved a completely different area of life. Because of ths ISA can be a truly liberating experience. Liberating from the fear and doubt that besets so many of us. The news media don't want you to be calm; they won't sell so many papers if the populace is not in a state of doubt and excitability. Parents often unknowingly fill children with fear in an effort to protect them. Employers normally like to be in control of the workforce so they sometimes promote fear of losing your job to keep you working hard and long hours. Of course living in an environment of fear usually lowers the quality of life and ISA therefore is actually addressing our whole experience of living.
Why not do yourself (and your friends and loved ones) a big favour and investigate whether the ISA Experience is something that could help you. I can say the benefits for me personally have been great. I'm very grateful for that. These benefits have continued long after the course itself is over too.
I keep having new insights which are attributable to the ISA Experience and the G.I.T.
If you do try it please let me know what you thought of it.
